Theme support is live!

We know it’s been a very long time coming (for a good reason - we’ve been working heavily on the next major iteration of Goplan), but it’s finally here. We just pushed theme support to the live servers, which means that if you head on to your account preferences now, you’ll be able to choose new themes!

There’s only one new theme right now, the long-announced Dark theme in addition to the default green, but there’s a few more themes on the way. We’re also considering the possibility of allowing more customization, so keep an eye out. Enjoy - and again, sorry about the long wait!

What about an implementation of own templates? I’d love to make one and share it with others if they need it….

Hey Bernhard: Yup, we are considering allowing external people to contribute their own stylesheets. There’s still a bit to do before that happens, but thats definitely on our radar. We’ll keep you updated through the blog here.

There are so many realy helpful requests waiting. All of them indeed are more important than the option to switch colour from green to dark; at least from my point of view. Goplan is a great web application; but if that is “the next major iteration of Goplan” after such a long waiting time, I can hardly believe that your users will be realy happy about it.

Utz, don’t worry, the “next major iteration” is not about themes at all. It’s a major rewrite of all the functionality with some pretty cool new stuff ;-) I just don’t want to spill all the beans now, that’s all.

I would definetely be more interested in GoPlan if its services made more sense. What especially concerns me is the lack of oversight: the dashboard isn’t really helpful.

I would really like to become a customer since I really detest 37signals services, but I guess your product doesn’t offer enough differential advantage to make me port all my data.

So when abouts can we expect this major iteration and where can I find more words on what it promises?

Robin

Hey robin: the next big iteration will be within the next two to three months.

You can find more about it in our Wiki ( http://wiki.goplan.info/Main/ProductRoadmap ).

Coool!

Themes are nice and all, but I would have rather you put the time into functionality. In particular, I need time tracking much more than I need themes.

I dig the new theme. As an app developer I see the value of theming - it lets me know the code I’m building is extensible. So, good work! Can’t wait to see what you’ve all been cooking up!
