Coming soon: Goplan on the iPhone and iPad

One of the top requested features that ends up in our inbox is not really a “feature”, but a new product. Many of you have been asking for a Goplan iPhone (and now iPad) application, and while our answers to those requests have been scarce in details, we’ve been hinting at the fact that we’ve been working on it. It’s time to go public, however - Goplan for the iPhone is coming soon. Read below for a quick Q&A with details.

It took you a while to officially announce this. Why?
We’re not a huge team behind Goplan - and that usually means we have to make real good use of our time. So we tend to focus on the things that people care for the most, and on figuring out the right balance between improving what we have today, and working on new functionality for tomorrow. The iPhone app - which is something we need ourselves too, as iPhone users - has been on our plans for a long time now, but it’s been hard to find the right time to work on it - until now.

When is it coming out?
No specific date yet. We’ve implemented a few things already, but we’re not ready to commit to a specific schedule at this point. Maybe in about one month and a half. Definitely not a lot more or a lot less than that. We’ll keep you guys posted through the blog and our twitter account. Keep in mind we want this out there as badly as you do :-)

iPad too?
We’re planning on supporting the iPad. Ever since the product was announced, we thought it would be the perfect tool for managers and people who don’t want to carry a computer to manage their projects. There might not be an iPad-specific version by day one, but we’re very interested in having an iPad-tailored experience for users on bigger screens.

How much will it cost?
Zero. We’re making the application free for people who have a paid Goplan subscription. We wouldn’t like to pay for a service twice, so we’re not making you pay twice either.

I have more questions - who do I ask?
Ask us anything in the comments. Ever since Goplan launched (it’s been a while!) we’ve been striving to include your feedback in all our feature planning, and this is no exception. We would love to hear your ideas, questions and concerns. You guys are the reason why we keep improving the product (thank you!), and we want to do the same for the iPhone app. So shoot! Ask us anything about the app - we’ll do our best to answer your feedback.

Goplan is feeling queasy [Solved!]

About 5 minutes ago we got an automated notification that our database was slower than normal, which was resulting in timeouts for our users. We’re putting Goplan in maintenance mode for a few minutes while we solve the issue and everything will be back very soon. We’ll be updating our twitter account frequently with updates, so click here for real-time status:

We’ll also update this blog post as soon as the issue is taken care of. Your data is, as always, safe from harm. If you want to take this chance to read more about how our backup and security systems work, check out this post.

Update: We kept the system in maintenance mode for 15 minutes to restore access speed and brought everything back to normal. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Going to UXWeek? You’re in luck!

We’ve always been big fans of Adaptive Path and UXWeek, so it is with great pleasure that we announce that we’re sponsoring UXWeek 2010 - which happens on the 24-27th of August in San Francisco, California. We’re giving every UXWeek attendee 6 months free of our Professional plan, which we think is pretty cool.

UXWeek is a fantastic 4 day conference dedicated to user experience, and the program this year is shaping up to be one of their best yet - check out their site for more information. We’re going to be around both to learn from the speakers and share experiences with other designers and developers. See you this summer in sunny California!

PS: If you’re not heading out to UXWeek this summer, you may also catch us in Lisbon at UX-LX this coming May. For more info on that, check this previous blog post.
